T: Good. We can do many interesting things in New Year. And, we can get a lot of presents, too. New Year is coming. Today I have some New Year presents for you.

T: Happy new year.

T: Look, it is New Year. Someone is visiting Mike’s family. Who is he? Do you know? (学生观看卡通。)

S: Uncle John.

Step 3 Task

T: Now, the next day is the second day of the New Year. Uncle John is at home.

  Look, who’s this boy?

T: Yes, this is Uncle John’s son, Tom.

T: Now, Helen and Mike come to visit Uncle and John.  

  What presents do they bring? What do they say? Please make a short play in groups.

Homework:

1 Listen and read this story after class, pay attention to imitate the intonation.

2 Try to collect some more holiday greetings, such as Merry Christmas!  (PPT上加个圣诞标志！)

3. Make a new year present for your mum and dad, remember to give the presents in English. 

Unit 8 Happy New Year!单元反思

本单元的教学比较应景，正好处于元旦期间，可以向学生进行新年期间的风俗文化背景和知识介绍，有助于学生中西方文化的学习。Story time的场景是在Mike的家中，Uncle John和孩子们在庆祝新年，他给孩子们带来了新年礼物。学生在本单元中学会了日常生活中的常用赠与的句型：This is for you.和It’s for … .

但是学生对于询问物品是什么，What’s this?和What’s that?分不清区别，this是指距离说话人近的物品，that是指距离说话人远的物品，平时学习中练习还不够，要加强对话练习。学生对于西方文化背景了解的不够，在表演的过程中，学生们还没有意识到：西方的小朋友拿到礼物时要当面打开。所以以后的教学过程中要注意多多渗透中西文化的差异。
